This is Nate…

What a way to end a Month.

While we were in India we stayed in Valore for two weeks, and from our nice blue house we could see a rather tall mountain in the distance. So we decide we wanted to climb said mountain and the next day he said we could climb up the mountain if we wanted to.

On July 27th he sent Ness-Kumar and Jay-Kumar over to lead us up the mountain.( I just have to note both of them were dressed in nice shirts and slacks, so this greatly confused us) We started our walk toward the mountain we thought we were going to climb that day, walking through a small village and to the base of the mountain. As we walked closer we started to ask them what mountain we were going up and they just look a little confused and just pointed ahead of us, so we assumed we were going up the one we wanted to. next we started walking up this stone path up a hill next to the mountain, and we when we got to the top, they asked which way we wanted to go. So we just pointed of down a road an started walking. That day we did not end up climbing any mountains, we walked to a village and then left 5 minutes later than sat on a bridge and waited for a bus to take us back to the city. A little disappointing , so a couple of day later on the 31st we decided to take matters into our own hands.

That morning a group of 9 of woke up around 4:00 in the morning to hike the mountains we wanted to and see the sunrise from the top. Our group consisted of Zach & Laura, Me & Jaylene, Kat, Lindsay, Scott, and Jason. Getting out of the house quietly was our first challenge, as soon as we stepped over the mass amount of beds in the rooms we crept down the stair to find a whole group of dogs sleeping i the street outside our house. As soon as they saw us jump the wall they started to bark at us. So we quickly all jumped down and ran to get away from them and avoid waking up more of our neighbors. We took the same path as we did on the 27th but this time instead of taking the road we turned and went straight up the mountain, no path at all. It was still very dark at this time, so we all had head lamps and were walking very carefully, taking turns at leading the group up the steep slope. It seemed like we would make it over one hill and then there would be another bigger hill to go up on the other side. As we got to the bottom of the tallest and 1st slope the sun had become to rise a little. So we decided what to do and a few of us started to run up this last hill to catch the sunrise from the top. At this point i felt a little sick so i climbed about a quarter of the way up the hill and passed out on a flat rock for a while, to reenergize myself. Our whole group went up except me and Jaylene who sat down a little farther just looking out and taking pictures of herself. Eventually i built up enough strength to continue up this very steep slope, and as soon as i reached the top i was met by the cheers of the rest of our group. Jaylene followed a few minutes later, that made me very happy that we all made it to the top of this mountain to enjoy the view. And what a view it was, it was so beautiful looking out over the morning sky at all the little villages tucked back in these Indian Mountains. We all gathered to take a view group photos then we got in circle and just prayed over the whole city of Valore below us. It was so beautiful to be up in the wind and grass completely surrounded by Gods glory. Later we built a small altar For future teams to Worship the one and only true God at.

This is just one of my favorite memories from India, it was so much fun to go on this adventure with the people i love, and just worship God on the top of the world.

One more note this was also one of the longest days of my life because the night Me and Lindsay and Zach and Laura took a bus back to Dharma Puri, holding all of our bags on our laps. We did not get home till late that night completely exhausted.

this is jaylene…

so i would just like to tell a wee story.

it was one of the first days of outreach in our lovely town of dharmapuri, india.  the morning had been spent getting to know the city and it’s wonderful people and around noon lunch was delivered to Joy Cottage.  those of us at the house gathered around to find a meal of chicken[which we found out would be a regular staple] and cous-cous. seeing that the cous-cous had pine nuts in it i let out a squeal of delight.  this joy may have been expressed with a little bit of volume and so i then had to explain myself.  having finished serving myself this great dish i handed the serving spoon to…

(da da da daaaa! and enter nate lynch)

nate, and as he took it from me, looked me square in the eye and said, “the smallest things make you happy, don’t they?”  and that right there is the first time i saw him as him.

good choice of words my friend, good choice.

miracle photo.

i was thinking how just the other day got my hands tied to you anyway
Why should I be scared why should I be afraid there isn’t anything you don’t know anyway
I was thinking how there ain’t no place in the world, that Id rather be
Than having my hand, tied to your never knowin’ where we’re goin’

i watched everything change around me

Would someone please write this down
Someone please take a photograph

cause I am watching a miracle that I don’t want to forget

When it feels like were not headed, anywhere fast I know that your plans in motion
Like the great the pacific ocean
Looking out at the sunset we could run for it we could run for it
Why should we be scared why should we be afraid there isn’t anything you don’t know anyway

i watched everything change around me

Would someone please write this down
Someone please take a photograph

cause I am watching a miracle that I don’t want to forget

The first song, The song that started it all.
